HLA-typification for the comparison of tissue characteristics
Secure identification
What would happen when the umbilical cord blood bag would be involuntarily mixed up with another bag due to the hectic in the delivery room? If needed, these "wrong“ cells could not be used as the body would show a rejection reaction. Therefore, a so-called HLA-typification is compulsory for "not own" (allogenic) donations in order to compare tissue characteristics of the donor and the recipient and therefore minimize a rejection reaction.
eticur) is the only provider who carries out this typification for all materials routinely before freezing. By comparing the maternal blood sample with the umbilical cord blood of the baby, it can be proven that this is really the “right“ material! All other providers only carry out this test when the material is needed. But what is any storage good for, when a possible confusion is detected after many years and when it is then urgently needed?
