• Elaborate examinations for infections by direct pathogen tests in the maternal blood and the umbilical cord blood in order to ensure that the blood was not infected during birth.  
• Gentle separation of the cells from the remaining blood in order to prevent any clotting and to ensure immediate use of the material if needed. This method is the world-wide established gold standard.  
• Cryo-preservation simulation and following elaborate cell culture in order to examine the vitality and dividing quality of the cells. This ensures that the cells can really be used if needed.  
• Storage in two separate tanks in order to increase the safety and to keep one half of the material entirely untouched if the other sample is needed for regenerative medicine.
